Behavioral Health

The caring, compassionate staff of IASIS Healthcare Behavioral Health Services are committed to providing patient-centered care involving all aspects of the patient’s well-being from a biological, psychological, social, and spiritual perspective. We provide a broad range of services from crisis management, inpatient psychiatry and outpatient psychiatric services.  Our treatment team includes licensed psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, masters-level therapist/clinicians, recreational therapists, registered nurses, and nutritionists. The treatment team establishes a personalized care plan in a safe, therapeutic environment based on the patient’s individualized psychiatric assessment by a licensed medical provider and psychosocial assessment by a mental health therapist/clinician.

Symptoms and conditions we assess and treat include:

  • Anxiety – Difficulty sleeping; feelings of restlessness, panic or impending doom; sudden inability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Depression – Inability to accept or adjust to loss; significant change in appetite, sleep patterns or energy levels; feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness or guilt; loss of interest in pleasurable activities.
  • Chronic Pain – Uncontrolled, continuing pain; use of multiple pain medications.
  • Psychosis – Seeing, smelling, hearing or feelings things that aren’t there.
  • Paranoia – Accusing others of negative behaviors or thoughts that are unrealistic; combative or violent behavior.
  • Cognitive Changes – Significant memory loss; impaired judgment and insight; inability to take care of day-to-day needs; acute deterioration of coping skills and judgment.
  • Suicidal or Homicidal Feelings – Thoughts of death, suicide or murder; self-injuring behavior.
  • Phobias – Fears that limit daily activity.
  • Mood disorders – Severe mood swings; feelings of elation, unlimited energy, pacing, or lack of sleep; sudden onset of severe depression.

What Is Mental Health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including:

  • Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry
  •  Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse
  • Family history of mental health problems

Mental health problems are common but help is available. People with mental health problems can get better and many recover completely.

Early Warning Signs

Inpatient Psychiatry Unit

IASIS Healthcare Behavioral Health Services provides treatment to those 18 years of age and older who are in need of inpatient psychiatric care. Inpatient psychiatry is for individuals who are actively suicidal, homicidal, engaging in self-harming behaviors, experiencing psychosis, experiencing intense distress/crisis, and their day-to-day function is deteriorating to the point that they cannot perform activities of daily living. We work together as a multi-disciplinary team using evidence based practices to help the patient understand and to cope with the source(s) of distress and guide them through the process to help them achieve their highest level of mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being. An individualized care plan is established to assist the patient in meeting jis/her healthy goals. We provide medication management, individual therapy, family sessions, recreational therapy, group therapy, and case management. Our group therapy consists of psycho-educational groups, medication management groups, psychosocial groups, skills groups, and art therapy to provide the patient with healthy coping skills to help regulate his/her mood and behaviors.

Outpatient Clinic

IASIS Healthcare Behavioral Health Services provides treatment to those 18 years of age and older. We provide medication management, individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. We work together as a multi-disciplinary team using evidence based practices to help the patient understand and to cope with the source(s) of distress and guide them through the process. We provide an individualized care plan that is tailored to the patient to help him/her achieve the highest level of mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. We also work with the local mental health community/authorities to provide additional support and resources for our patients.
